A super PAC has deployed an AI-generated deepfake video attacking Republican Congressman Thomas Massie in Northern Kentucky's heated primary race. The ad, released by MAGA KY PAC, features a synthetic video of Rep. Massie appearing to hold hands with Democratic Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar as they check into a hotel, implying a "throuple". The video, designed to resemble CCTV footage and targeting voters ahead of the May 19th election, includes a small disclaimer at the bottom acknowledging it was created with artificial intelligence.

Outraged, Rep. Massie condemned the ad at a KET debate, calling it a sign of a failing campaign. "It's frankly an insult to older voters who don't know that AI exists. They're going to look at that and think that's actually me going on a date with AOC and Ilhan Omar," he said. Marjorie Taylor Greene argued it violates The TAKE IT DOWN Act, calling for legal action and platform removal, while ethics experts warn this marks a new, chaotic chapter in campaign advertising. The super PAC has reportedly spent roughly $4.5 million on ads targeting the incumbent since last summer, with the deepfake provoking both it and the law.
